The Young Urban Achievers (YUA) is a collective of young people in Amsterdam that brings youth with initiative and dreams together and guides them in the process of setting up their own businesses and organizations.

YUA works in regions where youngsters have a lack of perspective, with a main focus on urban surroundings. Cities are historically the center of economical activity. YUA believes in the power of young people to stimulate this economical activity by developing new initiatives. These highly motivated and talented citizens - The Young Urban Achievers- are the future; their talent, intellect and economical potentials generate grow, development and innovation. Therefore YUA supports and stimulates them in creating a cultural stage where their voice can be heard and their opinion counts.

YUA's is guiding the realization of a cultural initiative in Bosnian capital that aims at setting up an art house cinema, completely run by students. Furthermore YUA organizes The YUA-BKB academy, a hands-on training for young people in Sarajevo to empower them with practical tools that help them to be active in their local society. YUA is also looking into the possibilities to expand their activities in the region. All projects focus on the power of young people and creating space for them to realize their goals.

Piet Meerburg
oprichter Kriterion Amsterdam

Eddy Terstall
filmmaker, o.a. Simon
